Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Job Type: Travel Contract

Duration: 13 weeks

Schedule:

  • 36 hours per week
  • 12-hour shifts
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medications and manage daily pill call.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and sick call.
  • Execute physician orders and perform nursing procedures within the scope of LPN licensure.
  • Monitor, assess, and document inmate/resident health conditions and behaviors.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation and confidential health records.
  • Inventory, secure, and manage medications, syringes, and medical supplies.
  • Perform emergency nursing procedures when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the medical unit and equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain medical reports, logs, and operational records.
  • Review medical charts and assist with treatment planning for inmates/residents with complex health needs.
  • Inspect the medical unit for safety hazards and contraband.
  • Escort inmates/residents for medical treatment as required.
  • Assist with investigations, incident reporting and compliance documentation.
  • Support accreditation standards, including NCCHC, ACA, and JCAHO requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare staff, correctional personnel, inmates/residents and administration.
  • Maintain a safe working environment while adhering to facility policies and security procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of employment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work in a secure correctional healthcare environment.
  • Strong clinical documentation and communication skills.
  • English proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking).
