Elwood Elementary is seeking a dedicated and compassionate long-term substitute teacher to lead our developmental preschool classroom during a maternity leave period. This role provides a unique opportunity to support young learners with diverse developmental needs in a structured, nurturing environment that promotes growth across cognitive, social-emotional, communication, and motor domains.

Responsibilities

* Provide daily instruction and classroom management for developmental preschool students, following established lesson plans and IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals.

* Adapt curriculum and activities to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.

* Implement evidence-based strategies that support early learning, communication, and social skills development.

* Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other service providers to ensure continuity of care and instruction.

* Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters independence and growth.

* Communicate effectively with families and staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.

* Complete necessary documentation related to attendance, IEP implementation, and student progress.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field (required).

* Valid teaching license/certification in Early Childhood or Special Education (preferred or as required by the state).

* Experience working with preschool-aged children and/or children with developmental delays or disabilities.

* Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Schedule & Compensation

* Full-time, school day hours, for approximately 8-10 weeks (December through February).
