Job Overview
The Lorain County Record's Retention Center serves the offices and agencies of County government with a centralized records storage center and provides records management services that assist County personnel to maintain efficient and effective control over the documents they create. It also ensures that County records and information are preserved and legally disposed of pursuant to Ohio's records laws.
ResponsibilitiesUnder direction, the successful candidate will prepare documents for storage, filing, document repair and removal; check for order and completeness, create targets for proper and consistent identification; update indexes of material housed in the Records Center; answer telephone requests and assist walk‑in visitors in accordance with Record Center policies and procedures; retrieve records/files when requested by offices and the public; return records used in the Center to proper location.
This is a full‑time union position.
- Knowledge of document processing procedures & standards
- Basic keyboard skills
- Ability to operate a variety of document processing equipment
- Maintain accurate records and carry out detailed instructions
- Cooperate with co‑workers on group projects
- Follow safety practices
- Understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects of a maximum of 40 pounds
