Crane Aerospace and Electronics is seeking a Director of Business Development for its Elyria, OH location.
Job SummaryThe Business Development Director will develop and execute strategies to grow the business through new contracts, acquisition support, and strategic market partnering. The role focuses on winning new contracts with new customers or new programs with existing customers and managing relationships to develop sales opportunities for OEM products and modernization/upgrade applications.
Essential Functions- Analyze competitive environments, develop customer strategies, and collaborate with peer groups to maximize growth on new and existing platforms.
- Develop product roadmaps, market analysis, marketing tools, and financial models to support product pricing and business case assessment.
- Work with engineering and operations teams to develop capture strategies and manage customer relationships.
- Lead new proposal development, customer surveys, and market research.
- Document and record all proposal activity.
- Establish, develop, and enhance business relationships with key internal and external customers.
- Manage the screening process to demonstrate viability of all proposed new business and secure necessary approvals.
- Win new business with existing and new customers that meet strategic criteria.
- Develop strategies that position solutions’ products, technologies, and services for profitable growth.
- Participate in strategic business planning and market planning to align solution strategies with company goals.
- Promote company image and positioning within target markets and participate in regional and national conferences as needed.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervisor or management.
Support the maintenance of a customer and competitive knowledge database.
Minimum Qualifications- 10+ years in aerospace marketing or business development, with proven experience working with international customers and cultural sensitivity.
- Strong negotiation and closing knowledge.
- Track record of managing complex aerospace proposals and closing large multi‑year deals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of Excel proficiency and advanced PowerPoint/other presentation media skills.
- BS degree in business, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Eligibility to access Controlled Data or Information; only US Persons considered when such access is required.
MBA.
Working Conditions- Standard office environment, with substantial visual concentration on detail.
- Required 30% domestic and international travel for customer meetings, site visits, conferences, seminars, and trade shows.
