Physical Education Teacher
Must have a Bachelors degree. Must possess/able to possess Intervention Specialist licensure by the State of Ohio Department of Education (ODEW). Must continue professional growth and certification. Ability to use Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and an insured personal vehicle for use while on agency business. Must possess a good driving record. Must have a history of satisfactory job performance. Must have a record of reliable work attendance.
Must be able to meet all requirements and obtain all certificates required to perform the job or any aspect of the job and to access funding for performance of any aspect of the job.
Preferred:Possess a Multi-Age Physical Education (K-12) license through ODEW with an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) endorsement.
Experience in working with students with developmental disabilities. Ability to use iPad and spreadsheet software.
RESPONSIBILITIESTeach specialized physical education lessons to students in small groups or individually.
Ensure that students receive safe and personally meaningful physical education activities/lessons.
Adapt rules, equipment, games, activities, etc. to match each student’s physical, sensory, and cognitive abilities.
Be involved with the development and implementation of measurable physical education goals for students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Administer standardized motor skill tests to determine a student’s capabilities if needed.
Consult regularly with physical therapists (PTs), occupational therapists (OTs), special education teachers, and parents.
Guide and direct classroom aides, paraprofessionals, personal aides, etc., during physical activities/classes
Inspect, maintain and make suggestions for specialized adaptive equipment.
Maintain detailed data logs and write quarterly progress reports on IEP physical objectives. Complete ODEW related reports and perform ODEW related activities as requested.
Assure health and safety by administering and following through on delegated nursing tasks, use proper transfer and positioning techniques and maintain a safe and clean environment.
Foster positive public relations by attending open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and all other meeting as warranted/assigned.
HOURS:School day schedule, Monday-Friday, except on weekly meeting night, plus one additional meeting per month, as assigned. Follows Board-approved Murray Ridge School calendar. Flexible as needed.
