Adjunct Instructor, Teaching Digital Photography

The Department of Visual Arts at Lorain County Community College is seeking applicants for the position of adjunct instructor, teaching Digital Photography. A Digital Photography course will be available beginning the Fall 2026 semester from 8:00am – 10:50am Tuesdays & Thursdays. Upon successful application the candidate will be considered for this and future sections.

Reporting to the Art Program Coordinator, the Adjunct Faculty will teach a course in Digital Photography. This class is a merging of the photographic and computer technologies. The students will explore the use of the computer and its abilities to produce photographic imagery without the use of traditional means. Digital cameras and scanners will expand the student's ability to create, modify, and produce files suitable for grayscale or four-color printings.

Discussion about the legal implications of modified imagery will be discussed in terms of evidentiary and intellectual property issues. Classes are located on the main campus in Elyria, OH.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing and delivering Digital Photography lessons, assignments, and vocabulary.
  • Evaluate, critique and grade student artwork.
  • Maintain attendance records and submit grades and other required documentation by specific deadlines.
  • Preparing written material such as syllabi, handouts and other course documents.
  • Availability to meet students outside of classroom hours.
  • Attendance at the annual convocation and art faculty meetings.
  • Use the on-line learning platform, Canvas, for grades and other course information.
  • Compliance with all school, division and departmental policies.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography. Practical experience in Photography, Digital Photography, Digital Photography software, hardware, printing, and methods of display. Teaching experience in the studio setting. Practice as a professional artist with a portfolio of work and documentation of exhibition or equivalent professional activity. Working knowledge of film cameras and darkroom practices a plus.
