Full-Time Faculty and Program Director - Veterinary Technology

Job Description

Lorain County Community College is seeking a collaborative and innovative educator to serve as Full-Time Faculty and Program Director for the Veterinary Technology Program. Reporting to the Dean of Health and Wellness Sciences, this individual will provide academic and administrative leadership for the program, ensuring excellence in teaching, curriculum, accreditation, and student success while maintaining compliance with AVMA CVTEA, Ohio Department of Higher Education, and Higher Learning Commission standards.

Provide leadership for all aspects of the Veterinary Technology Programme, including curriculum, accreditation, assessment, and continuous improvement; recruit, mentor, and support faculty; collaborate on scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning; maintain communication with faculty, students, administration, Polaris Career Center, and community partners.

Coordinate admissions-related activities, support student recruitment and retention initiatives, monitor Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) outcomes, collaborate with advising and student support services, oversee student engagement activities that promote academic success and program completion, and perform additional duties as assigned to support the program's continued success.

Option 1:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited institution;
Current licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Ohio.

Option 2:
Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology Program;
Current credential as a Registered, Licensed, or Certified Veterinary Technician;
Eligibility for Ohio credentialing.

In addition, applicants must possess: A minimum of three years of professional veterinary or veterinary technology experience; A minimum of one year of supervisory, management, leadership, or program coordination experience;
Demonstrated knowledge of veterinary technology education, curriculum development, and AVMA CVTEA accreditation standards.

Experience obtaining or maintaining AVMA CVTEA accreditation;
Teaching experience in higher education, career-technical education, or workforce development;
Experience developing academic or workforce training programs;
Experience supervising faculty, staff, or clinical personnel;
Experience managing program operations, budgets, or laboratory resources;
Experience developing partnerships with veterinary employers, animal shelters, or community organisations;
Experience collaborating across secondary and postsecondary educational institutions;
Demonstrated commitment to student success, access, equity, and inclusive excellence.
