Float Teacher and Closer Elyria

Position Overview

The Float Teacher/Closer supports multiple classrooms throughout the day, helping teachers maintain a smooth, safe, and engaging environment. As the day winds down, this role transitions into the center closer—keeping routines consistent, helping children finish their day calmly, and ensuring the building is properly closed according to licensing standards.

• Jump into toddler, preschool, and school‑age rooms as needed to support teachers
• Play, interact, and engage with children at their level—floor play, sensory activities, outdoor time, and simple routines
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
• Follow daily schedules and support transitions (snack, bathroom, outside, end‑of‑day routines)
• Build positive relationships with children and families
• Communicate with staff and leadership to ensure smooth classroom coverage
• As the closer, tidy classrooms, complete end‑of‑day cleaning tasks, and secure the building
• Follow all state licensing rules, center policies, and safety expectations

• Someone patient, playful, and comfortable working with toddlers and young preschoolers
• A flexible team player who can move between classrooms with ease
• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
• Reliable, professional, and able to maintain routines and expectations
• Experience in childcare preferred, but we’re willing to train the right person

• Afternoon shift with closing responsibilities
