Job Description
Teaching an introductory surveying course for construction majors as part of the Construction Technology program at Lorain County Community College (LCCC). Class and lab assignments emphasize the care and use of field instruments used in land surveying. Students will take field measurements, learn to make basic computations and adjustments necessary to post, and process field survey measurements. Course topics include, but are not limited to, Fieldworks Basics, Distance Measurements, Angle Measurement, Elevation Determination, Traverse Operations, and Field Practice.
The course is scheduled on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 1:10 pm. The instructor must be responsive to student questions and requests for assistance and participate in the assessment of student academic achievement.
- Teach introductory surveying course for construction majors.
- Emphasize proper care and use of field instruments.
- Guide students in taking field measurements and performing basic computations and adjustments.
- Process field survey measurements.
- Cover topics including Fieldworks Basics, Distance Measurements, Angle Measurement, Elevation Determination, Traverse Operations, and Field Practice.
- Schedule instruction on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 1:10 pm.
- Respond promptly to student questions and requests for assistance.
- Participate in assessment of student academic achievement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or closely related field.
- Demonstrable experience with surveying.
- Minimum of five years of industry experience.
- Computer skills to post syllabus, grades, and attendance.
- Master’s degree in Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or closely related field.
- Evidence of successful prior teaching experience at the community college level.
- Experience with the Canvas learning management system.
- Ability to use modern educational technology such as multimedia-based instruction.
