Job Description
Lorain County Community College (LCCC) seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach classes related to semiconductor manufacturing for the MEMS associates degree. The instructor will be responsible for:
- Delivering on‑campus lectures and hands‑on laboratory sessions, including gowning up and working in Class 10,000 and Class 100 clean rooms with hand tools, computers (Windows), vacuum pump operation & maintenance, and processes such as die attach, wire bonding, silicon wafer chemical cleaning, thin film deposition, photolithography, and diffusion.
- Collaborating with the course coordinator to optimize lab and lecture content.
- Setting up, operating, tearing down, shutting down, and cleaning all equipment, materials, and tooling used in MEMS associate labs.
- Grading quizzes, homework, and exams through Canvas.
- Coordinating with LCCC administration and staff for extracurricular events such as tours or live demonstrations.
- Academic background:
Associate of Engineering or Applied Science (or currently in pursuit) in a field related to semiconductors (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Technology, Industrial). - At least three (3) years of work experience in microelectronic manufacturing.
- Hands‑on experience in semiconductor equipment operation, processing, maintenance, and cleanroom work.
- Flexibility to work a schedule from 9 AM to 9 PM on campus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Office, and Teams.
- Willingness to be trained on and use equipment in Class 100 and Class 10,000 clean rooms.
- Excellent communication, organization, and rapid‑learning skills. Ability to multitask in a dynamic educational setting.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related engineering, technology, or industrial field.
- Five or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ESD preventative practices, and/or Class 10,000 cleanroom work.
- IPC J‑STD‑001 soldering certificate and IPC A‑610 certification.
- Experience with PCB design software (e.g., Altium).
Applicants must be residents of Ohio, capable of fulfilling on‑campus responsibilities, and within a reasonable commuting distance of 1005 N Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035. This position is part‑time.
