Job Description If you are a Sustaining Engineer professional looking for an opportunity to grow your career, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by supporting and enhancing existing product lines within Emerson’s Professional Tools business. You will help address field concerns, improve product quality, and reduce costs through thoughtful engineering solutions. Working collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and technical experts, you will identify root causes of product issues and drive effective, customer‑focused improvements while contributing to a culture of innovation, integrity, collaboration, and inclusion.
InThis Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Respond to field complaints and production issues related to existing products.
- Conduct root cause analysis of quality and performance issues.
- Define process or design improvements to address product concerns.
- Coordinate and/or perform testing to validate the effectiveness of improvements.
- Participate in value improvement initiatives and support sourcing strategies to ensure supply continuity.
- Review and approve or decline deviation requests from production.
- Evaluate and approve or decline PPAP submissions for new parts or suppliers.
- Ensure accurate implementation and documentation of engineering changes in PLM and ERP systems.
- Support sustainability initiatives aligned with Emerson goals.
- Provide engineering support for products requiring regulatory or agency approvals.
- Assist with substance compliance projects through technical expertise.

Required Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to solve problems and manage a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Analyzes, develops, and recommends design approaches to meet requirements for new or improved products.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software (e.g., Solid Edge, Solid Works).
- Experience with manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, forging, and forming.
- Knowledge of metallurgical fundamentals, including heat treatment and material properties.
- Familiarity with a stage-gate New Product Development process.
- Awareness of regulatory standards for tools (e.g., IEC 62841).
