Location: Elyria, OH, USA
The JobMechanical Engineer in the Systems Engineering team, working onsite. Responsibilities include design, development, and improvement of mechanical systems for our Nelson Stud Welding platforms and related products.
Responsibilities- Become intimately familiar with Automated, Semi‑Automated, and Manual Nelson Stud Welding systems and recommend cost‑effective improvements.
- Design, develop, and update mechanical systems for new applications, system improvements, and cost savings.
- Participate in product launches through FMEA, DVP&R, and 8D methodology.
- Utilize DFMEA to capture lessons learned and drive product improvement activities.
- Provide expert assistance to manufacturing and repair personnel for troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Coordinate specification and build of complete systems to meet customer requirements.
- Assist with mechanical tooling component sourcing and verification of test and performance requirements.
- Utilize Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics to mathematically model systems when required.
- Travel up to 10% of the time on a global scale.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of on‑the‑job experience in detail mechanical design and development or application development.
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering theory, drafting skills, and electrical/mechanical systems practices.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and NX (preferred); familiarity with Autodesk Inventor and UG (Unigraphics) is a plus.
- Experience with PDM systems such as PTC/Wind Chill is preferred.
Competitive salary range: $72,000.00 – $, depending on level, location, and experience.
