We are currently recruiting for an IOP Addiction Counselor to work at our Men's Department located in Elyria.

Summary

The IOP Addiction Counselor is responsible for routine duties of an Addiction Counselor, including screening, assessment, treatment planning, education, referral and documentation. Key functions include individual, group and family counseling, crisis intervention, case management, and participation in CQI and utilization reviews.

Essential Functions

Delivery of clinical services including individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, intensive outpatient services, urinalysis ordering, non‑medical community residential services, consultation, referral and intervention, hotline, training, outreach, crisis intervention, case management and adjunctive alcohol and drug services. Assessment and treatment planning, oversight of assigned cases, orienting clients to the program, clinical reviews and staffing, discharge planning, daily progress notes, family engagement, weekly contact with referral sources, CQI data collection and corrective actions, monthly participation in Utilization Review and Peer Review programs.

Requirements

General Requirements

  • Adhere to the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board’s Chemical Dependency Code of Ethics.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of addiction as an illness.
  • Three years of treatment or recovery experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with agency employees, outside contacts, and a diverse client population.

Educational Requirements

  • Associate Degree or substantial progress toward an Associate Degree with emphasis on Addictions Treatment and Prevention or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred.

Certification Requirements

  • CDCA required.
  • LCDCII, LPC, LSW or higher credential preferred.
  • Travel: Minimal, mostly local travel.
  • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week; primary shift includes 3–4 morning and day shifts.
  • Salary: Salary commensurate with licensure and experience.
