Radiation Therapist Position
This Radiation Therapist position is based in the Lorain/Elyria area of northeastern Ohio, offering the unique combination of lakeside living and easy access to urban amenities. Situated along the southern shore of Lake Erie, the community features scenic waterfront views, marinas, and nearby beaches that invite outdoor recreation throughout much of the year. Residents enjoy boating, fishing, lakeside parks, and walking trails, as well as a variety of local restaurants, coffee shops, and seasonal events that give the area a welcoming, close-knit feel.
With Cleveland less than an hour away, you have convenient access to major league sports, world-class performing arts, museums, and nationally recognized dining, while still enjoying the affordability and comfort of a smaller city. The cancer center setting focuses on comprehensive, patient-centered care, offering modern radiation oncology services in a professional and supportive environment. You will work within a multidisciplinary team that includes radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, oncology nurses, and support staff, all dedicated to safe, precise treatment delivery and compassionate patient interactions.
The department utilizes contemporary radiation therapy technology and evidence-based protocols, providing opportunities to maintain and expand your technical skills while contributing to high-quality outcomes. In this daytime role, you will primarily work standard weekday hours, with a schedule designed to support work-life balance while meeting patient care demands. A typical day includes reviewing treatment plans and patient charts, performing CT simulations and treatment setups, verifying patient positioning with appropriate immobilization devices, and delivering daily radiation treatments according to prescribed parameters.
You will conduct pre-treatment safety checks, operate linear accelerators and associated equipment, and perform on-treatment imaging to confirm accurate targeting. Close coordination with dosimetry, physics, and nursing is a routine and valued part of the workflow. Patient interactions are central to this position. You will provide clear explanations of the treatment process, help patients feel comfortable during simulations and daily treatments, and report clinical observations and patient concerns to the radiation oncologist and nursing team.
Documentation in the electronic medical record and oncology information systems is an essential part of the role, ensuring accurate treatment records and communication among team members. Patient volumes and daily treatment counts are managed to maintain safe, efficient throughput while allowing time for individualized attention and careful quality checks. This role offers the chance to build your radiation oncology career in a region known for its friendly communities, reasonable cost of living, and access to both outdoor recreation and metropolitan experiences.
Whether you're looking to refine your skills in a focused cancer center environment or seeking a stable, rewarding position near Lake Erie with proximity to Cleveland's broader cultural offerings, this opportunity provides a strong professional fit.
