Sequoia Financial Group, an Akron, Ohio-based registered investment advisor with $22.6 billion in assets under management, has brought its merger and acquisition counsel in house. Michael Marhofer will join as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, and will hold an equity stake in the firm.
ResponsibilitiesAs EVP, general counsel and corporate secretary, Marhofer will assist Sequoia with strategic decision-making and streamline execution of inorganic growth initiatives.
Qualifications- Over 30 years of corporate legal experience in M&A and joint ventures, including private equity, family offices and private companies.
- More than eight years at Benesch Law, co-chairing the corporate and securities practice group and serving on the executive committee.
- Former outside counsel to Sequoia; joined Benesch as a partner and advised Sequoia prior to joining in-house.
Sequoia works with high-net-worth individuals and families and operates from 30 offices in 19 states.
