Lunar Tool & Mold, a second-generation precision manufacturing firm at the forefront of Ohio’s aerospace industry, is HIRING NOW for experienced Level 2 and 3 Tool/Mold Maker Journey persons to join our elite team. Operating since 1965, we bring nearly six decades of expertise in designing, engineering, machining, and manufacturing high-precision tools and molds for defense contractors and aerospace firms across the United States.

Our state-of-the-art facility in North Royalton, OH, is equipped with top-tier technology, including Southwest/Bridgeport Bed and Knee mills, Makino EDMs, and cutting-edge CNC tooling from Makino, Mitsubishi, and Hwacheon. Job Description

Precision Machining:
Plan and build a variety of components used in mold tool design, maintaining tight tolerances of +/- 0.001" as required. Blueprint Interpretation:
Read and interpret blueprints to guide the machining process accurately.

  • Competitive Compensation based on experience
  • Level 2: $27–$35 per hour
  • Level 3: $30–$45 per hour
  • Work Schedule:

    Full-time, 1st shift, Monday to Friday, with overtime opportunities available.

Responsibilities
  • Precision Machining:
    Plan and build a variety of components used in mold tool design, maintaining tight tolerances of +/- 0.001" as required.
  • Blueprint Interpretation:
    Read and interpret blueprints to guide the machining process accurately.
  • Collaborative Design Input:
    Work closely with the engineering team to provide input on tooling design, enhancing manufacturing feasibility.
  • CNC and EDM Support:
    Assist CNC and EDM staff to meet tooling requirements efficiently.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Analyze Blue Light Inspection reports with engineering to ensure tools meet specified requirements.
  • Project Management:
    Oversee the build of tooling to meet customer deadlines.
  • Wax Press Operation:
    Operate the Wax Press Injection System and troubleshoot injection issues as needed.
  • Safety and Housekeeping:
    Adhere to common safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Contribute to ongoing process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
Requirements
  • Experience:

    3–10+ years of experience in core/wax die/mold building with high precision and tolerance; journeyman mold maker experience required.
  • Education:

    High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficiency with common tool room equipment (knee mills, bed mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses) and measurement tools (calipers, indicators, depth mics).
