Acara Solutions has been providing aerospace firms throughout the U.S. with our staffing services for over 65 years. Our Elyria, OH (Cleveland) international aerospace client (metal machine shop) is looking for two 2nd shift Machinists to join their organization as full time direct employees (full benefits). All CNC machinist openings are 2nd shift initially. Hours are Monday-Friday 3:00pm
-11:30pm.
Pay: $36.57 per hour for the CNC Lathes/Mills Machinist during the initial 90‑day training period, then a 3% increase to $37.67 after training is completed.
Pay rate is $35.14 per hour to start for the Rotor Cell Wire EDM or CNC Grinder machinist during the first 90‑day training period; then there is a rate increase after training to $36.19.
Both positions are eligible for a pension. $1,000 sign‑on bonus. OT work and time‑and‑one‑half pay is expected, including working 1 Saturday per month.
The two openings:
- CNC Machinist – Rotor Cell Wire EDM CNC Grinder
- CNC Machinist – Mill or Lathe
This is a Union facility with a pension at 5 years. The first 90 days are in training on day shift from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Afterwards all new machinists have to start on 2nd shift. If 1st shift is desired, the new employee can put his/her name on the 1st shift waiting list. Due to the benefits of being in a Union, there is a long 1st shift wait list (lots of longevity there).
Responsibilities- Process rotors through various machining, EDM, and supporting operations in a team‑oriented cell.
- Responsible for maintaining cell inventory.
- Set up and operate numerically controlled machines and other equipment.
- Make and verify any necessary corrections to program, set up, tooling and machine settings with the assistance of the Supervisor and/or Manufacturing Engineer.
- Use various gauges when required.
- Provide a finish in accordance with the manufacturing outline and blueprint requirements including removal of burrs and edge breaks.
- Saw material as necessary.
- Clean and move parts as necessary.
- Pass an annual eye exam.
- Responsible for product verification and process control including using necessary measuring devices.
- Keep charts and records as required on completed sequences and processes.
- Rotate to different workstations within the cell.
- Perform required rework, secondary operations, routine maintenance per Appendix A, and appropriate safety checks in the cell.
- Document all non‑conformances through specified data collection procedures.
- Inspect work and verify that product meets all appropriate standards at each operational step in the cell.
- Complete all required paperwork.
- Ensure all material is properly cleaned, identified, protected, and stacked prior to movement.
- Work with internal and external customers and suppliers and participate in continuous improvement activities as required.
- Complete all required documentation including but not limited to operator inspection records, job routers, NCR's, reject tags, move tickets, and stock tickets.
- Perform other duties as assigned by department supervisor.
- Utilize computer to access various databases.
Required:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years (5 years preferred, or trade school plus 2 years) of CNC experience with Mills, Lathes, or Wire EDM or CNC OD Grinder.
- Minimum 2 years of experience setting up CNC machines and doing setups (know setup/offset/make edit/inspect parts).
- Minimum 2 years of experience with fixtures, cutting tools, and selecting and dressing wheels for finish requirements.
- This is an aerospace ITAR facility – U.S. Persons required.
Preferred:
- Experience with EDM and/or CNC Grinders.
- Fanuc controls (but other controls experience is fine).
