Crane Aerospace and Electronics – CNC Machinist (Rotor Cell Team Operator Trainee) – 2nd Shift

Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a CNC Machinist (Rotor Cell Team Operator Trainee) – 2nd Shift at our Elyria, OH location. Hours are Monday-Friday 3:00pm
-11:30pm. This role is eligible for a $1,000 bonus! The hourly rate is $37.25.

Job Summary

In this position, you will learn to adequately perform the duties and responsibilities of the Rotor Cell team certified operator occupation. You will work in a team-oriented cell processing rotors through machining, EDM, and supporting operations.

Responsibilities
  • Process rotors through various machining, EDM, and supporting operations in a team-oriented cell.
  • Maintain cell inventory.
  • Set up and operate numerically controlled machines and other equipment.
  • Make and verify necessary corrections to programs, setups, tooling, and machine settings with supervisory assistance.
  • Use various gauges when required.
  • Provide a finish in accordance with manufacturing outlines and blueprints, including removal of burrs and edge breaks.
  • Saw material as necessary.
  • Clean and move parts as necessary.
  • Pass an annual eye exam.
  • Verify product and process control using measuring devices.
  • Keep charts and records for completed sequences and processes.
  • Rotate to different workstations within the cell.
  • Perform rework, secondary operations, routine maintenance, and appropriate safety checks as per Appendix

    A.
  • Document non-conformances through specified data collection procedures.
  • Inspect work and verify that the product meets all appropriate standards at each operational step.
  • Complete all required paperwork.
  • Ensure material is properly cleaned, identified, protected, and stacked before movement.
  • Work with internal and external customers and suppliers and participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Complete required documentation including operator inspection records, job routers, NCRs, reject tags, move tickets, and stock tickets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department supervisor.
  • Utilize computer to access various databases.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Wire EDM or CNC Grinder experience required.
  • Knowledge: Basic reading and writing skills; basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and trigonometry.
  • Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, detail sheets, manufacturing outlines, and written instructions. Ability to develop programs from manufacturing outlines. Working knowledge of fixtures, cutting tools, and selecting and dressing wheels for finish requirements.
  • Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Only US Persons will be considered where such access is required.
Work Environment & Safety
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, lifting, and stretching.
  • Lifting parts, fixtures, and containers, and wire spools up to 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet; grinding wheels up to 40 pounds to a height of 3 feet.
  • Use of assorted burring tools and holding tools in awkward positions for prolonged periods.
  • Manufacturing shop floor environment: greasy, oil exposure, dielectric fluid, and coolant.
