Manufacturing Engineer, Electronics Technician
Job Description
Lorain County Community College (LCCC) is seeking applicants for a temporary full‑time faculty position within the Microelectronics Manufacturing bachelor’s of applied science program. Reporting to the dean of Engineering, Business & Information Technologies, the full‑time faculty will teach hands‑on courses and laboratories covering core fields such as Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing, thru‑hole soldering, hot‑air rework and repair of circuit boards, PCB design, backend processes (die attach, wire bonding), cleanroom work, automated SMT machine programming, and automated PCB inspection.
They will provide training to support student career placement, engage with industry to keep coursework current, supervise students and lab assistants, write and modify lab operating procedures, and grade assignments, labs, and exams via Canvas, including data collection for ABET assessment.
Required Qualifications: Attained or in pursuit of a BS Engineering or BAPS in a related field with at least 3 years of work experience in microelectronic manufacturing. Must have hands‑on processing experience in various core areas: SMT hand soldering, hot‑air rework, thru‑hole and wave soldering; PCB repair, rework, testing, and troubleshooting; BGA rework; PCB design and prototyping; cleanroom gowning; thermosonic wire bonding and die attach;
automated SMT operation and programming (pick & place, solder paste printing, AOI, solder paste inspection, solder reflow, x‑ray microscopy). Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office, excellent communication and organizational skills, ability to work independently, teach 3–4 classes per semester, and collaborate with faculty, assistants, and students.
Preferred Qualifications: Attained or in pursuit of a Master’s in a related field with at least 3 years of work experience. Additional credentials include J‑STD‑001 solder certificate, PCB design in Altium, and microcontroller programming (e.g., Raspberry Pi RP2040).
