Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a CNC Machinist (Rotor Cell Team Operator Trainee) - 2nd Shift at our Elyria, OH location. Hours are Monday-Friday 3:00pm-11:30pm. Hourly Pay: $37.25. This role is eligible for a $1,000 bonus.
Job Summary:
In this position, you will learn to adequately perform the duties and responsibilities of the Rotor Cell team certified operator occupation.
- Process rotors through various machining, electric discharge machining (EDM), and supporting operations in a team-oriented cell.
- Maintain cell inventory and set up and operate numerically controlled machines and other equipment.
- Make and verify necessary corrections to programs, setups, tooling, and machine settings with the assistance of the supervisor or manufacturing engineer.
- Use various gauges when required and provide a finish in accordance with the manufacturing outline and blueprint requirements, including removal of burrs and edge breaks.
- Saw material as necessary; clean and move parts as required; pass an annual eye exam.
- Conduct product verification and process control using measuring devices; keep charts and records of completed sequences and processes.
- Rotate to different workstations within the cell and perform rework, secondary operations, routine maintenance per Appendix A, and appropriate safety checks.
- Document non‑conformances through specified data collection procedures; inspect work and verify that product meets all appropriate standards at each operational step.
- Complete all required paperwork, including operator inspection records, job routers, NCRs, reject tags, move tickets, and stock tickets.
- Ensure all material is properly cleaned, identified, protected, and stacked before movement.
- Work with internal and external customers and suppliers and participate in continuous improvement activities as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by department supervisor.
- Utilize computer to access various databases.
- Experience: Wire EDM or CNC Grinder experience required.
- Knowledge: Basic reading and writing skills; basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and trigonometry).
- Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, detail sheets, manufacturing outlines, and written instructions; develop programs from manufacturing outlines; working knowledge of fixtures, cutting tools, and selecting and dressing wheels for finish requirements.
- Education / Certification: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Eligibility: Position may require access to Controlled Data or Information; only U.S. persons will be considered. As a U.S. Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
The role requires prolonged periods of standing, bending, lifting, and stretching. Workers may lift parts, fixtures, containers, and wire spools weighing up to 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet, grinding wheels up to 40 pounds to a height of 3 feet. The manufacturing shop floor environment is greasy, oily, and includes exposure to dielectric fluid and coolant.
