Manufacturing Engineer – Elyria, OH

Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer at our Elyria, OH location.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. You’ll be a part of continuous improvement around machining and manufacturing strategies and support our AS9145 implementation at the site.

• Perform production support engineering work, applying standard and advanced techniques, procedures, and criteria to support processes and systems.
• Identify appropriate equipment and machining strategies to manufacture machined components.
• Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods using knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment, machining methods, and quality control standards.
• Develop, test, source, and cost‑justify tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods, including capital justifications, implementation documentation, and training.
• Create new and maintain existing production routings, defining each operation required to move a component or assembly through the complete manufacturing process from raw material issuance through production, assembly, and test.
• Define machine, tools, and gauges, required feeds and speeds, and significant handling factors for each operation in accordance with product specifications.
• Monitor overall process ownership of manufacturing areas, providing root‑cause analysis and interfacing with functional groups to review and resolve processing issues with corrective actions.
• Prepare component and assembly cost estimates to support financial decisions for new business opportunities.
• Create or modify NC/CNC programs to manufacture hardware according to specifications while ensuring efficient production methods (where applicable).

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 2–5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in precision machining or automotive manufacturing.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and methods, including flow, layout, assembly, and production equipment.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and demonstrated CAD proficiency.
• Experience with automation or machining highly desired.
• Proficiency with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans, MSA, etc. for AS9145 process controls.
