Position: Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace)

Overview

Compensation: Level II to $94K, Level III to $117K.
Schedule: M-F.

About the Opportunity

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. You’ll contribute to continuous improvement around machining and manufacturing strategies and participate in AS9145 implementation at the site.

Their ideal candidate will have 2-5 years APQP experience.

Responsibilities
  • Performs production support engineering work, applying standard and advanced techniques, procedures and criteria in supporting processes and/or systems.
  • Identify appropriate equipment and machining strategies to manufacture machined components.
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, using knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, machining methods, and quality control standards.
  • Develop, test and/or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods. Includes capital justifications, implementation documentation, and training.
  • Create new and maintain existing production routings, defining each operation required to move a component or assembly through the complete manufacturing process from raw material through production, assembly and test.
  • Define machines, tools, and gauges to be used, required feeds and speeds, and significant handling factors for each operation to manufacture and/or assemble components per product specifications.
  • Monitor overall process ownership of assigned manufacturing areas, perform root cause analysis, and interface with other functional groups to resolve processing issues with corrective actions.
  • Prepare component and assembly cost estimates to support financial decisions required to evaluate new business opportunities.
  • Where applicable, create or modify NC/CNC programs to manufacture hardware according to product specifications while ensuring efficient production methods.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring (Requirements):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a similar technical field (ideally Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience for Level II, 5 years for Level III in manufacturing engineering (ideally aerospace, precision machining or automotive). This includes understanding of manufacturing processes and methods, familiarity with AS9100, ISO
    9001 or IATF 16949.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with CAD.
  • Minimum 1 year of LEAN experience (Six Sigma training or belt is a plus).
  • This is an ITAR aerospace plant — U.S. persons required.
Preferred
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, etc. for AS9145 Process controls.
  • Assembly experience is highly preferred.
  • Automation or machining experience highly desired.
