This progressive care/stepdown unit assignment is an ideal opening for RNs seeking professional enrichment. You'll gain valuable exposure to a dynamic patient population-ranging from cardiac telemetry to med-surg and vascular cases-with a unit that values teamwork, adaptability, and continuous skill advancement. The experience will strengthen your clinical decision-making and introduce you to a range of workplace practices and leadership styles, expanding your resume and professional network.
Schedule & Unit Details
- 12-hour PM shifts
- Every other weekend & every other holiday required
- 13-week assignment; not accepting local candidates
- 33-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:5-6 at night, subject to change with census
- Current RN license (state or compact)
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required
- At least 2 years of RN experience and recent stepdown or progressive care background
- Dysrhythmia exam required (study guide available)
- EPIC EHR experience, and additional critical care or progressive care certifications preferred
- Strong assessment skills, experience with lines, drains, devices, advanced respiratory modalities, and multiple infusions
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with current standards
- Act as a liaison across interdisciplinary teams, ensuring seamless communication and coordination
- Provide patient and family education, serving as an advocate for optimal outcomes
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Respond capably to rapid changes in patient status and emergent situations
