Job Description
Position:
Nursing Laboratory Coordinator, Health and Wellness Sciences Division. The role reports to the Nursing Programs Administrator under the Division Dean and oversees personnel, students, equipment, and environment of nursing labs at the Elyria and North Ridgeville campuses. MSN required.
- Personnel:
Work with clinical coordinator to determine teaching assistant work schedules; orient new hires to lab environment, explain equipment, supplies, procedures, safety, and policies; ensure faculty access to handbooks; conduct annual competencies for all lab personnel; provide feedback to lead faculty; complete evaluations; monitor absences and arrange coverage; supervise activities of part‑time laboratory instructors for ADN and PRNS programs. - Students:
Meet with students as needed; work with teaching assistants to address problems; communicate issues to lead course faculty. - Communication:
Maintain and update bulletin boards; communicate changes in lab policies and procedures to adjuncts and lead faculty; update Student Handbook via Student Committee. - Equipment:
Set up equipment for classes; restock supplies; order supplies within budget; propose capital purchases; coordinate with lead faculty on instructional needs; collaborate with outreach programs; manage key assignments, voicemail, laboratory mailboxes, and file drawers; work with IS&S for maintenance and repair of video equipment; plan and oversee lab cleaning each semester. - Documentation:
Maintain current ADN and PRNS nursing textbook collection; maintain course syllabi and student handbooks online; keep documents in files. - Lab Usage:
Develop and monitor sign‑in sheets; tally usage each semester; submit usage reports to Nursing Program Administrator. - Miscellaneous:
Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean and Nursing Program Director; instruct lab sections as needed.
- Able to stand for 6–8 hours; lift and move objects of 35 pounds or more; move quickly between rooms; maneuver in limited spaces; demonstrate high manual dexterity, including sterile technique for inserting catheters, withdrawing blood, and preparing and administering medications; work at different heights and levels.
- Required: MSN; valid, non-encumbered nursing license in Ohio; minimum 2 years of RN experience.
- Preferred: Teaching experience in a nursing program or lab setting.
