Senior Director of Quality – The Senior Director of Quality for the Fluid Management Solution provides strategic and tactical quality leadership across multiple manufacturing sites, ensuring robust deployment of the AS9100-compliant Quality Management System (QMS), regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and product lifecycle quality. Scope spans Product Development, New Product Introduction (NPI), Production, Supply Chain, and Product Support. This leader is key to the continued implementation of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and mentors the team in AS9145.
EssentialFunctions
- Lead the deployment and continuous improvement of AS9100 QMS across all business aspects to assure safety, airworthiness, conformity, and product reliability across multiple Crane sites.
- Lead APQP within Product Development/New Product Introduction by integrating organization, industry, and customer quality requirements into new design development projects using AS9145.
- Effectively manage the supply‑base quality performance over the lifecycle (selection, qualification, management, monitoring and measurement) and ensure that purchased materials meet requirements and comply with applicable regulations.
- Establish a zero‑defect culture by leading the deployment and continuous improvement based on AS9145.
- Ensure the effectiveness of measurement and monitoring systems to achieve improvement across key metrics and quality processes for multi‑site businesses.
- Develop and implement a quality organizational structure capable of supporting strategic initiatives, integrating quality into the development of short‑ and long‑term business plans, and coordinating people and resources for the quality function.
- Lead efforts to define and train employees on root‑cause analysis and problem‑solving tools to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
- Establish collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect product quality improvement.
- Analyze and resolve customer complaints and field reliability issues, coordinate product and component failure analysis.
- Drive corrective action, inspection of all program hardware, documentation, and supplier quality improvements.
- 15+ years of quality assurance experience in defense, space electronics or high‑end aerospace industry in a management role, preferably with multi‑site experience.
- Experience with business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
- Experience with advanced product quality planning in high reliability product development/New Product Introduction.
- Experience with FAA, EASA, CAAC Part 21 and Part 145.
- Experience with Government Contracts, DLA, DCMA.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (EE, ME, MSc., Chem) from an accredited institution.
- Strong experience with APQP tools – Process Flow Diagram, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, Process Capability, SPC.
- AS9100 Auditor experience.
- Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ CQM, CQE.
- Experience with electronics manufacturing methods including precision GD&T, IPC-610 Class 3, IPC J-STD-001, MIL-PRF-38534 Hybrid Electronics.
- Preferred experience with NADCAP special processes requirements.
- Preferred experience with DO-254 HW, DO-178 SW.
- Preferred experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
