Maintenance Mechanic

Overview

Shalmet, based in Orwigsburg, PA, specializes in coil-to-coil, coil-to-bar, bar-to-bar, and hollow bar processing of stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, carbon and alloy steels, aluminum, and other nonferrous materials. The company operates a second manufacturing facility in Elyria, OH, providing rebuilding and re-engineering of customer machines. A maintenance position is available for afternoon & evening shift coverage at Elyria, OH.

• Inspect, test, calibrate, repair, install, fabricate, construct, adjust, lubricate, maintain, dismantle, and clean all mechanical equipment in conjunction with other production and maintenance personnel.
• Operate mobile equipment and an overhead crane, following material movement and required safety procedures.
• Use required tools and equipment, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical problems.
• Perform basic metal fabrication, pipe fitting, and plumbing tasks.

• Resume outlining relevant qualifications and experience.
• Must pass testing for related trade.
• Technical trade school or related college field preferred.
• Two years industrial maintenance experience required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic math for measuring and calculations.
• Read, write, and understand instructions; read and interpret mechanical blueprints.
• Knowledge of general maintenance and safety procedures, including ARC Flash, lockout/tagout, confined space, and hot work permits.
• Knowledge of mechanical components and trade terminology; proper installation of mechanical components.
• Safe rigging and lifting methods; basic carpentry skills.
• Oxy/acetylene setup and proper burning practices.
• Basic welding skills; basic computer skills.
• Work order system experience.
• Forklift, crane, and high lift certifications.
• Confined space training completed.

• Starting wage $34.87 per hour with opportunities for advancement.
• $5,000 sign-on bonus for external hires.
• Maintenance trainees receive $2,500 after 6 months and an additional $2,500 after 9 months of employment.
