SUE Field Technician II

Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT), an employee‑owned consulting engineering firm, is looking for a SUE Field Technician II to join our team in Rockville, MD.

• Analyze and interpret complex utility records and prints.
• Travel to assigned work sites and perform utility designation, identifying and marking underground facilities.
• Use electromagnetic locating equipment and follow the AMT designating process to ensure accurate and complete locates.
• Wear appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety practices and procedures established by management.
• Contact the Senior SUE Technician when assistance is needed.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

• 3+ years of experience with SUE and/or private utility locating.
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and field conditions.
• Physical demands include extensive walking and bending; must be able to open manhole covers or other structures of varying weights.
• Experience working on a vacuum truck, performing maintenance, completing test holes and reports, and maintaining all vacuum truck equipment and supplies.
• Ability to read and understand directional maps, topographic maps, and various types of utility prints.
• Proficiency with electromagnetic utility locating equipment.
• Ability to multi‑task, such as making research calls for one project while commuting to another, and coordinating with crew members on various jobs.
• Willingness to travel out of town on an as‑needed basis.
