Lead Electrical Engineer – Healthcare Infrastructure
This is a high-impact leadership role at the center of California's most complex healthcare infrastructure projects. As a Lead Electrical Engineer, you will drive the design and delivery of critical building systems for ground-up medical facilities—ensuring performance, reliability, and full compliance with OSHPD (HCAI) standards. You'll serve as the technical authority on projects where precision is non-negotiable and every decision directly impacts patient care environments.
This opportunity is designed for engineers who want both ownership and influence. You'll lead multidisciplinary coordination, mentor engineering teams, and remain deeply involved in technical execution. Extensive California healthcare design experience—particularly OSHPD (HCAI)—is the top priority for this role. Candidates with deep healthcare expertise will be considered over those with a PE license but limited healthcare experience.
Core Responsibilities- Lead the electrical design and delivery of large-scale healthcare facilities from concept through construction
- Architect and oversee complex power distribution, emergency systems, lighting, and critical infrastructure for medical environments
- Ensure full compliance with OSHPD (HCAI) standards, California codes, and healthcare-specific regulatory requirements
- Drive coordination with Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing (MEP), structural, architectural, and contractor teams
- Serve as the primary technical liaison for clients, owners, and project stakeholders
- Conduct design reviews and provide technical oversight to ensure constructability, performance, and quality
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, elevating team capability and project delivery
- Support construction-phase activities, including RFIs, submittals, site visits, and field troubleshooting
- Contribute to process improvements, innovation strategies, and overall engineering excellence
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Experience: 8+ years of electrical engineering experience, including leadership on large ground-up projects
- Healthcare Priority: Candidates must have significant California healthcare (OSHPD/HCAI) experience—this is prioritized over licensure.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of power distribution, emergency systems, and critical infrastructure for healthcare facilities
- Software: Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical analysis tools
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead projects, coordinate teams, and deliver high-quality results
- Licensure: Active California Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain
- Note: A PE license is not required for consideration if the candidate brings strong, proven experience in California healthcare (OSHPD/HCAI) design.
- Experience leading large-scale healthcare projects through full lifecycle delivery
- LEED or energy-efficiency experience within healthcare environments
- Experience with BIM coordination and integrated project delivery workflows
