Job Summary:

TheSEMTechnician supports research and development activities by operating and maintaining scanning electron microscopy equipment and associated laboratory systems. This role involves preparing samples, collecting and documenting imaging data, and ensuring laboratory equipment is operated safely and accurately in support of experimental and prototype development. This is a hands-on laboratory role in a fast-paced, pre-revenue clean energy R&D environment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Operate scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipment to capture high-quality imaging and analytical data
  • Prepare and handle samples in accordance with laboratory procedures
  • Operate and maintain electronic and mechanical laboratory equipment with care and precision
  • Work safely with laboratory chemicals and follow all safety protocols
  • Create, update, and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Document observations, test results, and experimental data clearly and accurately
  • Communicate findings and progress to engineers and scientists
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and functionality of lab equipment and work spaces
  • Support continuous improvement of lab processes and workflows
Required Qualifications:
  • Computer literate and comfortable using data acquisition and documentation software
  • Careful and capable of operating electronic laboratory equipment
  • Careful and capable of operating mechanical equipment
  • Comfortable working with chemicals in a laboratory environment
  • Ability to create and follow standard operating procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Works effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tools and techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience operating scanning electron microscopes or other sophisticated microscopy systems
