We are currently seeking an experienced Solution Architect to support one of our strategic clients in the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences industry based in South San Francisco, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to shape enterprise technology solutions that enable digital transformation, operational excellence, and sustainability initiatives within a global, highly regulated environment.

As a Solution Architect, you will play a key role in designing scalable, business-aligned technology solutions that support strategic initiatives across Site Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), Sustainability, and other enterprise functions. Working closely with business stakeholders, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and engineering teams, you will translate business needs into robust architectural solutions, guide technology decisions, and ensure alignment with enterprise standards throughout the product lifecycle.

This role requires a strong combination of enterprise architecture expertise, business analysis capabilities, cloud technologies, and systems integration experience. The successful candidate will help drive innovation while balancing technical excellence, long-term scalability, and business value.

This position requires daily on-site presence in South San Francisco.

• Solution Architecture & Design
• Design end-to-end technology solutions that align with business objectives, enterprise architecture standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Define scalable application, integration, and data architectures that support long-term business growth.
• Develop and evolve solution architectures throughout the entire product lifecycle, including functional and non-functional requirements (NFRs).
• Ensure solutions are secure, maintainable, performant, and scalable.
• Business & Technical Alignment
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand strategic objectives, business processes, and operational challenges.
• Translate high-level business requirements into detailed technical solution designs and architecture specifications.
• Lead discovery sessions, architecture workshops, and solution reviews to establish target-state processes and capabilities.
• Enterprise Collaboration
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, Infrastructure teams, Security, and Enterprise Architecture organizations.
• Provide technical leadership throughout solution delivery while ensuring architectural consistency across multiple systems and platforms.
• Serve as the primary architecture advisor for complex cross-functional initiatives.
• Technology Strategy & Innovation
• Develop and maintain product and technology roadmaps aligned with enterprise strategy.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, cloud services, enterprise platforms, and third-party solutions.
• Lead Proofs of Concept (PoCs), technology assessments, and vendor evaluations to support strategic investment decisions.
• Balance innovation with technical debt management and long-term maintainability.
• Integration & Data Architecture
• Design robust integration architectures using modern API, event-driven, and cloud-native patterns.
• Develop conceptual and logical data models that ensure consistency, scalability, and data integrity across enterprise systems.
• Support digital transformation initiatives involving connected systems, IoT-enabled environments, and data-driven decision-making.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Informatics, or a related technical discipline.
• 6-8+ years of experience in enterprise IT, including Solution Architecture, Technical Architecture, and Business Analysis.
• Proven experience designing enterprise-scale solutions across complex, cross-functional environments.
• Strong expertise in:
  Enterprise Solution Architecture Requirements Analysis Application Design Data Architecture (Conceptual & Logical Models) Systems Integration API Design Event-Driven Architectures Experience working with enterprise platforms such as Service Now or similar enterprise workflow solutions.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS or Microsoft Azure).
• Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to bridge business and technical teams.

• Experience with in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Device, or Life Sciences industry.
• Exposure to Site Operations, Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), Sustainability, Engineering, Facilities Management, Logistics, or Manufacturing domains.
