Eurofins Built Environment Testing – TEM Asbestos Analyst

Emeryville, CA (relocation assistance may be available).

The analyst performs analysis of bulk and air samples for asbestos mineral fibers using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) in compliance with company QA programs and SOPs. Responsibilities include sample preparation, data validation, LIMS data entry, and participation in QA and accreditation activities.

• Prepare and analyze environmental samples for asbestos using TEM microscopy.
• Adhere to EPA, NVLAP, ELAP, OSHA, and NIOSH standards for asbestos identification.
• Enter and report analytical data accurately using the LIMS.
• Perform independent data reviews of other analysts’ work.
• Analyze reference materials, proficiency samples, and other quality control samples as needed.
• Maintain client service and provide technical support as required.
• Assist the QA manager in developing, implementing, and collecting data for QA processes for the different analytical tests.
• Confirm lab results as required by client services personnel.
• Complete all analytical testing QA related tasks as needed.
• Assist in pursuing, receiving, and maintaining necessary laboratory accreditations.
• Maintain and update all necessary training and QA documents onsite as required.
• Coordinate and manage projects according to rush status and due time for timely delivery.
• Assist co‑workers with analytical questions as necessary.
• Participate in Lean initiatives and projects when called upon.
• Follow company policies and procedures and ensure coworkers comply.

• Manage and maintain inventory of re‑sale supply items and laboratory consumables and reorder supplies as needed.
• Manage and dispose of analyzed samples as needed.
• Train new asbestos testing analysts as required.
• Recommend and coordinate sample transfer as necessary.
• Establish and maintain laboratory reference samples.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for errors and issues as necessary.
• Maintain equipment properly and coordinate servicing of all laboratory equipment as needed.
• Communicate available capacity to Regional Manager routinely.
• Support other departments within the lab (e.g., mycology, asbestos, bacteriology, and others) when appropriate.
• Perform other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the supervisor/manager.

• 0–1+ years of experience performing asbestos microscopy.
• Undergraduate degree in Geology, Biology, or related science, or completion of a TEM Asbestos training course.
• Experience with a Transmission Electron Microscope preferred.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
• Professional working proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).

Hourly rate: $23 – $27 per hour, based on qualifications and experience. Position is full‑time Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM; overtime or weekend work may be required.
