Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Senior Director, Marketing and Distribution with extensive experience in marketing, developing and execution strategy and customer relations the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team!

Role

Summary:

Responsible for the development and implementation of strategies related to marketing products effectively in a profitable manner and increasing the viability of Buckeye assets that are under-utilized. Also responsible for implementing marketing strategies that maximize tariff and throughput revenue on company owned and operated pipelines and terminals. Manage unbranded sales and marketing staff.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:
  • Develop quotes for customer contracts including forward fixed priced contracts, index pricing deals and spot and prompt contracts.
  • Manage a variety of customer accounts using experience and influence to build and maintain optimization from a business and customer service standpoint.
  • Monitor inventory and make recommendations on scheduling efforts.
  • Work with trading group and communicate with risk management for credit approvals. Make sure deals are cleared before moving forward.
  • Enter deals/contract terms into trading system.
  • Troubleshoot computer system issues related to customer volume obligations.
  • Work with management on developing marketing strategies and implementation in both new and existing footprints. Work to identify new wholesale business opportunities.
  • Act as liaison between customers and credit/trading/risk management department.
  • Participate in futures trading activities as needed.
  • Work to resolve day-to-day issues that arise with contracts, terminal operations, product outages, credit issues, transport delivery, etc.
  • Direct reports to include unbranded Sales Representatives and Managers of Marketing & Distribution.
  • Direct and guide those individuals as part of the marketing plan determined by the Vice President Sales & Marketing.
  • Job involves direct contact and joint sales calls with certain high-value customers.
  • Participate in day-to-day rack pricing strategy as directed by VP Sales & Marketing.
  • Participate in industry forums and trade associations at the federal, state, and local level.
  • And other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements :
  • 10+ years related, industry experience required.
  • Basic or advanced knowledge of propane products is a plus.
  • Some knowledge T4 scheduling system or similar application is preferred.
  • Proficiency using MS Office, including Excel and Word required.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% domestically.

  • This job includes frequent interaction with a wide range of personnel from company officers to hourly employees, which requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good reasoning and analytical skills are also required.
  • Candidate will need to be well organized and action plan oriented.

Physical & Safety Requirements:
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
  • This role continuously operates a computer and other office productivity equipment (i.e. a calculator, copy machine and computer printer).
