Position: Full-Time Substitute-Social Studies Teacher

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Substitute Social Studies Teacher role based in Emmaus, PA. The educator in this role will provide daily instruction in Social Studies, following existing lesson plans or designing standards‑aligned lessons when needed for middle school classrooms. Responsibilities include delivering engaging instruction in World History and other Social Studies topics, managing classroom routines, and maintaining a positive, inclusive learning environment.

The teacher will assess student understanding through formative activities, provide feedback, and support differentiated learning. Additional duties may include collaborating with grade‑level teams, communicating with caregivers and school staff, and completing required school‑based responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Strong content knowledge and instructional experience in Social Studies and World History.
  • Demonstrated ability in Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development aligned with state and district standards.
  • Experience teaching at the Middle School level or with early adolescents in an educational setting.
  • Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Social Studies (or eligibility to obtain appropriate certification).
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, culturally responsive, and respectful classroom environment.
  • Effective classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills with students, caregivers, and colleagues.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different classrooms, schedules, and instructional needs as a full‑time substitute.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Studies, History, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
