Summary
The Associate Community Banker delivers personalized client service by holding financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine their needs and provide appropriate solutions. This position is responsible for maintaining client relationships, with emphasis on First Interstate Bank’s Service Commitments and in accordance with our vision and values. The role is located at our Emmett, h.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Delivers personalized client service in person and over the phone by answering questions, assisting with issues, and offering solutions.
- Opens and maintains a variety of products, including consumer and basic business checking and savings accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts, Certificates of Deposit, consumer credit cards, and more.
- Performs Teller duties, conducting a variety of financial transactions such as check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and accurately counting currency and coin.
- May engage in conversations about and process new consumer loan requests.
- Conducts financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine needs and provide appropriate solutions.
- Identifies referral opportunities to other lines of business—including, but not limited to, Home Loans, Treasury Solutions, Merchant Services, Business Banking, and Wealth Management—consistently utilizing 360 View to document referrals and other client activity.
- Builds client relationships through proactive outreach and follow‑up.
- Completes work accurately with minimal errors.
- Participates in volunteer activities and financial education efforts.
- Stays current on regulatory changes and demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations, policies, and procedures related to assigned job functions.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions while maintaining confidentiality.
- Uses tact and diplomacy effectively when interacting with clients and coworkers.
- Possesses working knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft programs, and strong 10‑key skills.
- Maintains working knowledge of digital platforms, CRM systems, and emerging technologies.
- Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Able to write simple correspondence.
- Able to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small‑group situations to clients and other employees of the organization.
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Able to compute rates and percentages and draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Able to apply common‑sense understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions.
- Able to solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Demonstrates timely completion of work and adjusts to workload demands to meet expected deadlines.
- Produces complete and accurate work, displaying pride and professionalism in all tasks.
- Takes personal initiative and serves as a positive example for others to follow.
- Requires compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and all related regulations.
- Employment is contingent upon meeting these requirements, including acceptable background investigation results.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Banking or related experience required.
- Physical demands and working environment include frequent handling, frequent hearing, frequent lifting, occasional lifting up to 25 lbs, frequent talking, frequent walking, moderate noise level, and regular attendance required.
