WIC Clerk

The Lyon County WIC department is seeking a clerk. The clerk is the first point of contact for WIC clients. This person greets patients, obtains insurance and financial documents, schedules appointments, and performs a variety of other clerical, reception, and administrative tasks.

• Punctuality and being present are the first essential functions of the job.
• Greet all patients and ensure that required paperwork for services is completed.
• Receive appropriate client financial information to determine program eligibility and status.
• Offer all applicants the opportunity to register to vote. Provide them with a Kansas Voter Registration Application or a State of Kansas Agency Declination Form.
• Promote breastfeeding as the optimal infant feeding method and assist with pump rentals through the lactation center.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Schedule patients and maintain the appointment schedule, while following office scheduling policies.
• Help contact and reschedule patients when schedules change.
• Direct phone calls to the proper destination or take messages.
• Answer or appropriately refer questions.
  
  Participate in quality improvement activities.
• Perform other additional duties as assigned.

• High school diploma
• At least one year of experience in a general office environment or call center
