Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
  • Valid Kansas teaching license and endorsements as required for the position.
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office

Essential Functions

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student needs.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to standards established by the Kansas State Board of Education, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for students with special needs, according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Participate in IEP meetings.
  • Work with other members of the staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and instructional methods according to district requirements.
  • Participate in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials through processes outlined by the principal and/or central office administrator.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing. Assist in the early recognition of learning difficulties. Provide interventions for students as necessary.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Plan, assign, and direct the work of any instructional aide(s), para educator(s), and volunteer(s), and oversee completion.
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. Demonstrate respect for individual differences.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the student handbook and board policy.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

  • Requires the ability to maintain emotional control while under stress and in stressful situations.
  • Requires the ability to frequently stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to walk frequently.
  • Requires the ability to use standard office equipment including computer and peripherals and other instructional equipment for prolonged periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to frequently use repetitive hand motions, including frequent keyboarding and mouse use.
  • Requires the ability to frequently kneel/squat, bend/stoop, push/pull, twist, or reach.
  • Requires the ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
  • Requires the ability to work and concentrate in noisy and crowded environments.
  • Requires the ability to work with frequent interruptions.
  • Requires the ability to occasionally work outside with exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
