Job Overview
Our client is seeking a qualified Mechanical Project Engineer responsible for completing mechanical, process, and installation aspects of capital projects and providing plant technical support. The role involves assisting the central engineering team with pre‑studies, executing design studies, managing contract engineering resources, overseeing procurement, fabrication, factory acceptance, installation, commissioning, and startup in both brownfield and greenfield environments.

Contract:
12 months with option to extend; CTH is not in scope at this time.
Work Status:
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (Green Card or US Citizen only). H1 may be considered if agency sponsored.
- Normal work hours 40 hrs/week Monday–Friday, with occasional shifts for project installation coverage, including weekends or holidays.
- Overtime may be approved as needed but will not be typical.
- Work Plant Shutdowns as needed, typically on weekends & holidays.
- Work schedules will vary based on project needs and assignment.
- Up to 5% domestic and some international travel.
- Provide mechanical engineering design for assigned projects, including machine specification, sizing and selection, part and assembly drawings, layout drawings, component specifications, bill of materials, and complete documentation package (dossier).
- Adhere to company mechanical design standards in all equipment designs.
- Provide project documentation: mechanical designs, technical offer, safety risk assessment, maintenance & operator training documents, and user manuals.
- Facilitate procurement of equipment and materials for assigned projects.
- Conduct equipment acceptance inspections on equipment entering the plant.
- Act as liaison between facility engineering, central quality, methods, purchasing teams, and equipment suppliers.
- Provide project support during installation, start‑up, and ramp‑up phases, often onsite and hands‑on, including during shutdowns.
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes for safety, process capability, and efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor and assess performance of plans/processes to make improvements or take corrective action, optimizing efficiency across work cells.
- Support production start‑up of new products, processes, and equipment, collaborating with material and product development teams.
- Identify complex problems, review information, develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions.
- Determine system behavior under varying conditions and select optimal actions based on cost and benefits.
- Work in a multidisciplinary team with engineering, product development, manufacturing, and sales, advocating cultural sensitivity.
- Carry out feasibility studies with validated CDCs, evaluating solutions from cost, deadline, risk, and functional criteria.
- Conduct integration studies in cooperation with other businesses.
- Implement the quality system and group methods (risk analysis, FMEA, design reviews, quality planning, DTE, NC treatment).
- Obtain validations (CI, RF, RC) after realization, installation, startup, and equipment development phases.
- Support prototype projects managed by process development teams.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience (4+ years) with understanding of mechanical design standards (OSHA, ASME, ANSI, ISO, etc.).
- Minimum of 3 years of mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing setting; 5 years preferred with expertise using AutoCAD or Draft Sight 2D.
- Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, piping and fitting.
