The Lyon County Department of Community Corrections is now hiring for a full time Probation Enforcement Officer. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits including paid time off and health, dental, vision, and life insurance. Salary starts at $25.00/hr.
The Probation Enforcement Officer will enforce the terms and conditions of probation. This position investigates and arrests probation absconders, conducts criminal investigations, and performs drug tests, surveillance, and high-risk home visits. This position often operates during non-traditional working hours and weekends. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have strong verbal and written communication skills. The Probation Enforcement Officer must have and maintain a valid Kansas Class C drivers license and be certified by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center.
Applicants with a bachelors degree in a related field will be preferred, but four years of law enforcement experience may be accepted in lieu of a bachelors degree.
Successful candidate(s) will be required to pass pre-employment tests including a background check, physical exams, and drug screen prior to hire.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Incumbent must be certified by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center.
Preferably a graduate from an accredited college or university with major course work in behavioral science, counseling, criminal justice, psychology, social work or sociology. Four years law enforcement experience required in lieu of a bachelors degree.
Must have the ability to receive, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions. Required to read, write, and speak English fluently with the ability to speak a foreign language helpful. Must have knowledge of interviewing techniques. Must have knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to Community Corrections and the State of Kansas.
Must be able to operate a vehicle, as well as office and communications equipment associated with this position.
