Senior Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – Primary Care

About the ClinicEncinitas Primary Care is part of UC San Diego Health, a Magnet designated organization. The clinic is a high‑performing, patient‑centered team focused on delivering exceptional care.
ResponsibilitiesThe Senior LVN performs a wide variety of patient care activities in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
- Prioritize and assist in patient triage, prepare and assist with patient examinations and procedures.
- Administer medications, perform wound care, draw blood, collect and prepare laboratory specimens, initiate venipuncture and IV access.
- Provide patient education and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Use clinical judgment to prioritize critical demands and work effectively as part of a team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) issued by California.
- BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months.
- At least two (2) years of LVN experience in a similar role and setting.
- Knowledge of universal precautions and proper body mechanics.
- Proficient with electronic charting in EHR systems.
- Skilled in taking vital signs, medication administration, patient interviewing, specimen collection, and normal lab ranges.
- Understanding of patient flow and appointment monitoring.
- Knowledge of pharmaceuticals and processing of PARs.
- Ability to lead and mentor teams, exercise independent judgment, and work in a collaborative environment.
- Certification in Intravenous Therapy (LVN IV).
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
- ACLS and/or ART.
- Experience in Express Care or Urgent Care, point‑of‑care testing, ambulatory setting, and procedures.
- Skills in wound care, suture removal, and dressing changes.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑volume clinical setting.
- Variable schedule including on‑call, weekends, and holidays.
- Criminal background check and pre‑employment physical required.
Hourly: $35.91 – $44.65 (adjusted for any less than 100% appointment). Annual: $74,980 – $93,229 (prorated if applicable).
