American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III NICU position requiring 3 years of NICU experience and a California RN license.
Requirements- Active California RN license required (or ETA of licensure posting)
- Current BLS and NRP certification required; PALS preferred
- Minimum 3 years of NICU Level III or higher experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience caring for neonates across gestational ranges including 34 weeks
- Skills in arterial line management, central line blood draws, UAC/UVC care, and neonatal dosage calculations required
- Experience with high-risk delivery attendance, NEC, and respiratory distress syndrome preferred
- Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and Magnet-recognized teaching children's hospital with a Level III NICU
- 20 staffed beds within the unit
- Variable day/night shifts on a 3x12 schedule (7:00-19:00 or 19:00-7:00)
- Full weekend availability required with flexible scheduling as needed
- No on-call responsibilities
- Required to float to satellite facilities including Rady Main Campus, Scripps La Jolla, Rancho Springs, Palomar, and Scripps Mercy, with mileage reimbursement provided
- Mid-shift floating may occasionally be required
- Uses Epic charting system
- Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including medication administration, IV therapy, and developmental care
- Support patient and family education, including breastfeeding support and thermoregulation practices
- Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal procedures such as lumbar punctures and therapeutic hypothermia
- Required to work 2 of the following 3 holidays (including Eves):
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's - Maximum of 6 days RTO permitted, with a minimum of 3 shifts per week required
- Any color scrubs permitted
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before being eligible to travel
- Travelers who reach a one-year mark at Rady or CHOC must wait 90 days before returning as a traveler
