What we're looking for:
  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience in planning and delivering individualized instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families
  • Ability to adapt educational materials and methods to fit varying needs
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and instructional adaptations
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting student success
Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students
  • Providing direct instruction using appropriate methodologies and communication modes, such as spoken English, American Sign Language, or other visual supports
  • Assessing student progress and adjusting strategies accordingly
  • Collaborating with general education teachers, speech/language pathologists, and other school staff to promote student inclusion
  • Participating in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities
  • Engaging with families to foster a supportive environment both at school and at home
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in compliance with applicable guidelines
