Ubiquity Solar is a fast-growing manufacturing company bringing both Silicon and Thin Film PV (Photovoltaic) Solar manufacturing to Upstate New York, Southern Tier. Ubiquity Solar produces a vertically integrated solar photovoltaic (PV) cell manufacturer leveraging conventional and advanced environmentally friendly solar technologies. We supply solar PV products primarily to the electric power generation and aerospace/transportation sectors in both the United States and Canada.

Position overview This EHS Sr. Manager/Manger role will support the Ubiquity Solar, Thin Film PV operations. Ubiquity Solar has an established a Safety 1st Culture. The EHS team, along with the support of the entire organization, will be on the front line of Ubiquity’s environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, factory safety and risk management. Initially this position will be an individual contributor’s position supported by 3rd party expertise as needed.

As operations and needs grow this role will be expected to lead a team of engineers to meet the expectations of the organization. What we need:
We need a passionate safety professional looking to grow and maintain a Safety 1st Culture. The EH&S Sr. Manager/Manager position will be the lead safety officer for the company’s Thin Film PV operations in Upstate NY. This will be a highly visible, leadership position spanning across all levels of the organization. Independent and collaborative decision-making abilities will be needed to establish required safety programs along with developing routing safety management practices.

Decision making must show sound judgement, have fundamental technical rationale, and weigh the risk/benefit for Ubiquity Solar. This role will also play and important part in strengthening our strong environmental, societal and governance (“ESG”) commitment to develop an exceptional culture to attract and develop the best people, partners, customers, and investors in the industry while exceeding all safety and environmental requirements.

If you’re passionate about solving problems, building something from the ground up, and challenging the status quo, we’d like to hear from you. In this role, you will report to the VP of Operations. You will be based in our Endicott office. More specifically, in this role you will:
• The EH&S Sr. Manager/Manager will lead a team in implementing programs to manage risk, improve critical KPI’s as well as meeting or exceeding regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical expertise and management direction in multiple EH&S disciplines including, but not limited to, chemical safety, process safety, equipment safety, ergonomics, hazardous waste management and environmental permitting.
• Work directly with the Process Development and Manufacturing teams to ensure that all safety programs, applicable safeguards and training programs are in place for existing equipment/process as well as guide new requirements. Where needed drive the development of specific safety and/or training programs.
• Ubiquity Solar will be a 7
* 24 manufacturing operation:
This position will build and maintain ERT responsibility for the factory. As issue arise, lead investigation and drive root cause corrective action as warranted.
• This position must be able to assess Ubiquity’s EH&S needs. In cases where internal resources are insufficient be able to effectively source and manage 3rd party resources to support Ubiquity’s needs.
• Ubiquity Solar new technology advancements require the design and/or modification of our process equipment. This position will work with these teams to provide timely inputs to the equipment and process design reviews, installation and start-up of equipment and processes.

Preferred qualifications:

• Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree desirable). Strong preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering or related fields such as Chemical Engineering or Environmental Science.
