Laboratory and Resource Technician

About The Role and Person

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Capel Manor College and we are now seeking to appoint a Laboratory and Resource Technician to join our team within the Animal Management department. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the science laboratory at the Enfield campus; preparing equipment and materials in support of predominately Animal Management but all subjects taught at the college and other animal practical activities.

This includes the cleaning, maintenance and organised storage.

The ideal candidate will be maintaining a safe and healthy laboratory environment in compliance with statutory requirements, produce risk assessments and the maintenance of COSSH/CLEAPS records. The candidate will also be assessing and monitoring the Health and Safety procedures followed in the laboratory.

You will also support staff and students in the use of laboratory resources and contribute to a safe, efficient, and productive learning and research environment. Additionally, the role supports admin required to upkeep our zoo license at the Enfield campus, with opportunity to be involved with conservation and research programs. The ideal candidate will hold a Level 3 qualification or higher in an animal science/ chemistry discipline and have some experience working with a variety of equipment in a science laboratory.

They will have excellent communication and organisation skills. They will be able to demonstrate awareness of Health and Safety/ COSSH/CLEAPS requirements and will have a strong commitment to maintaining high and safe standards.
