We are seeking an experienced Controller to join a growing and well-established construction company with a strong reputation and a collaborative, people-focused culture. The Controller will oversee the company’s accounting and financial operations while partnering closely with leadership to support sound financial decision-making and continued business growth. Responsibilities- Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reports
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and cash management
- Manage construction-related accounting, including job costing, WIP reporting, project financials, and revenue recognition
- Monitor project profitability and provide financial insight to project and company leadership
- Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, banks, and other outside partners
- Lead and develop accounting staff while fostering a collaborative team environment
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and efficiency
- Partner with senior leadership on financial planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a Controller or senior accounting role
- Construction industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, and project accounting
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience with accounting software and strong Excel skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and operational teams
