Job Description:
The Music Educator provides high-quality individual and small-group instrumental instruction across multiple school locations. This position is primarily focused on intermediate-level students and serves as a vital component of the district's music program by developing foundational and transitional skills necessary for continued musical growth. The role may expand district-wide based on program needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver individual and small-group instrumental instruction focused on technique, musicianship, and music literacy
* Build and reinforce foundational and intermediate musical skills essential for student progression
* Implement flexible instructional scheduling to accommodate a fluid student roster
* Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction to support varied learning needs
* Collaborate with ensemble directors and music staff to ensure instructional alignment and continuity
* Travel between assigned school locations as part of the regular instructional schedule
* Foster a positive, supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement and confidence
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.
* Valid Connecticut teaching certification in Music Education [Music, PK-12 (049)]
* Experience teaching music at various grade levels.
* Strong knowledge of child development and instructional strategies for music education.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Work Environment
* Instruction occurs at multiple school sites within the district
* Schedule may vary based on student enrollment, instructional needs, and program expansion
