Position: Long Term Substitute Music Educator (Anticipated)

Music Educator

Enfield Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a love of music in students and promoting their musical growth and development.

  • Provide a safe, nurturing and academically challenging learning environment.
  • Provide students and staff with opportunities to reach their full potential.
  • Prepare students to become productive, lifelong learners.
  • Instill in our students a curiosity and love for learning which embraces the arts and the world around them.
  • Prepare students to become self-reliant, honest, respectful and responsible members of a diverse and global society.
  • Improve student learning by holding staff accountable for providing the most effective learning environment and using the most effective teaching strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that aligns with state standards and district goals.
  • Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate best instructional practices, including differentiated instruction, collaborative learning, and technology integration.
  • Teach various aspects of music education, including vocal and instrumental music, music theory, and music history.
  • Foster a classroom environment that is welcoming, respectful, and supportive of all students, promoting equity and inclusion.
  • Assess and evaluate students' progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their musical growth.
  • Encourage students to explore their musical talents and express themselves creatively through performance and composition.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community to support student learning and create opportunities for students to showcase their musical abilities.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in music education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.
  • Valid Connecticut teaching certification in Music Education [Music, PK–12 (049)]
  • Experience teaching music at various grade levels.
  • Strong knowledge of child development and instructional strategies for music education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
