Position Summary

The Manufacturing Technology Instructor teaches courses across applied computer use, mathematics, blueprint reading, set‑up, calibration, and operation of complex machine tools. The instructor delivers both classroom lecture and hands‑on precision machining instruction and may develop curriculum in response to workforce needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Instruction planning and preparation: prepare course materials, syllabi, and instruction outlines; be prepared for lectures and shop demonstrations.
  • Classroom and shop instruction: deliver instruction that results in progressive student learning.
  • Student records: maintain accurate, timely, and useful recording and reporting of student performance.
  • Program planning, development, and oversight: determine public and industry interest in advanced manufacturing associate programs and assist in designing, developing, and overseeing these programs and related courses.
  • Additional responsibilities: attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; service on assigned committees and task forces; attend committee, staff, informational, and professional meetings, including evening and weekend sessions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High‑school diploma (or equivalent) and ten or more years of manufacturing technology industry experience.
  • High‑school diploma (or equivalent) with five or more years of industry experience and a CSCU community college advance manufacturing technology certificate or a nationally recognized credential (e.g., NIMS, AWS, MSSC).
  • Advanced Manufacturing Technology Associate’s Degree and five or more years of industry experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Professional competence in advanced manufacturing subject disciplines.
  • Academic and practical instruction techniques and methodologies.
  • Student testing and evaluation.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

  • Salary: $72,097 approximate annual.
