PTR-Precision Technologies, Inc. is a member of the Global Beam Technologies group , the largest manufacturer of electron beam welding and drilling systems in the world. PTR manufactures Electron Beam Welding Systems for the North American market and provides process development, service, training, and job shop EB welding services at our Enfield, CT plant.
SCOPE OF POSITION:PTR – Precision Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering department in Enfield, CT. The position is responsible for completing all or portions (subassemblies) of design / layout as concepted in a cost effective and timely manner. This includes creating layout / assembly, detail- drawings and creating Bills of Materials (BOMS).
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:- Perform mechanical engineering analysis and design calculations
- Layout and detail (when necessary)
- Select appropriate material and hardware for all components
- Review concepts for potential problem areas and potential cost saving by concept simplification
- Interface with Supervisory, Sr. design, and other drafting personnel as well as Electrical Engineering and Proposal / Sales Department effectively
- Work with shop personnel in the resolution of design / build discrepancies, and manufacturing problems
- Other related duties as assigned
- High proficiency in Solid Works®
- Good problem-solving skills and reasoning ability
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly through e-mail, drawing presentations
- Must be self-motivated and a great team worker
- Position requires applied knowledge of various machine design areas, including:
- Prior machine, fixturing & parts handling experience preferred
- Experience in fabricating, welding and sheet metal design
- Good problem-solving skills and reasoning ability
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly through e-mail, drawing presentations
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
- Proficiency in Windows environment; proficient in Microsoft applications
- Knowledge of weldment, sheet metal and drawing is a plus
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, and working on a computer
