Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Advisor to join a supportive and knowledgeable payroll team based at the head office in Enfield. This part-time position offers you the chance to play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of weekly and monthly payrolls for approximately 250 employees. Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you will be instrumental in maintaining high standards of accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism.

Working hours – Part-time (22.5 hours per week)
Working Pattern – 2 days in office, 1 day remote
Responsibilities- Support the end-to-end processing of both weekly and monthly payrolls for around 250 employees, ensuring all payments are made accurately and on time.
- Calculate salaries, bonuses, statutory payments, and voluntary deductions with precision while maintaining up-to-date records for starters, leavers, and contractual changes.
- Act as deputy to the Payroll Manager by taking responsibility for payroll operations during periods of cover, demonstrating reliability and adaptability within the team.
- Ensure all employee payments reflect authorised changes and comply with relevant legislation, including PAYE, NIC, pensions, and other statutory requirements.
- Reconcile payroll outputs regularly and assist in resolving any discrepancies promptly to maintain trust and transparency across the organisation.
- Support the preparation and submission of RTI filings to HMRC within statutory deadlines while assisting with PAYE, NIC, and other statutory payments.
- Maintain awareness of current payroll legislation and employment tax requirements, escalating complex issues appropriately to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Administer pension schemes including auto-enrolment processes, opt-ins/outs, monthly deductions, as well as managing benefit changes for new starters or leavers.
- Assist with private health scheme administration and process employee expenses in line with company policy while supporting petty cash management.
- Serve as a first point of contact for routine payroll queries from employees and managers by providing clear information while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Proven experience working in a dedicated payroll role within a commercial organisation where accuracy and confidentiality were paramount.
- Demonstrated ability to support payrolls of similar size or complexity (circa 250 employees), showing strong organisational skills throughout.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK payroll legislation including PAYE, NIC regulations, pensions administration, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills enabling you to manage data efficiently while identifying discrepancies or trends that require attention.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a small team environment while also working independently when covering key responsibilities.
- Professional communication style that enables you to provide clear guidance on sensitive matters whilst maintaining discretion at all times.
- High standards of accuracy in all aspects of record-keeping coupled with an unwavering commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
- A supportive approach when assisting colleagues or responding to employee queries about payslips, tax forms or bank details updates.
- Desirable:
Experience gained within property development, construction or project-based environments would be beneficial but not required.
