Layup Technician

We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Layup Technician to join a leading Company located in the Enfield, CT surrounding area.

Salary:  $41,600 - $43,680  

Under minimum supervision, the Layup Technician performs hand layup of advanced composite aircraft components on complex tooling (molds) following specific work instructions. The Layup Technician will work with a variety of materials, including carbon and fiberglass cloths impregnated with epoxy  resin,  and honeycomb core.  The Layup Technician will utilize a variety of hand layup techniques and  would  also utilize  a laser projection system to assist with the layup operation.  

The Layup Technician may also be required to prepare tooling (molds) for the layup process and prepare the component for autoclave or oven cure by applying a vacuum bag.

Job Responsibilities:

+  Assemble composite aircraft components using appropriate hand layup techniques.

+  The technician will fit and smooth successive layers of composite materials free from wrinkles, air pockets, and voids.

+  Vacuum bag  layup molds following work instructions for autoclave or oven cure.

+  Adhere to clean room guidelines for cleanliness and restrictions.

+  Operate a laser projection system to guide the precise layup process.

+  Handle multiple tasks and organize resources to ensure work is completed on time.  

+  Knows and follows all  clean room  protocols and dress  requirements .
Keeps work areas clean and  organized,  and maintains equipment as required.

+  Communicate openly with clean room supervision, management  and  manufacturing engineering personnel.

+  Follow work instructions to ensure requirements are met and accurately record necessary information  within  job travelers as required .
Requests  guidance and further instructions as necessary.

+  Accurately record time within  ERP  System.

+  Adhere to the Compliance Program.

+  Adhere to all OSHA safety requirements and APC safety procedures.

+  Other responsibilities may be necessary or assigned to fulfill the duties associated with this position.

Basic Hiring Criteria:

+  Minimum of a high school education or equivalent and at least one year of related experience.

+  Procedure and work instruction training:
Layup and clean room related procedures presented as general and all-hands training. On-the-job training.

+  ABC Safety Training. ABC Export Compliance training.
